It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m undertaking a new venture.  I have rented a studio space at Art 105 in downtown Kinson where there are several other artists who rent spaces there.

I have recently become interested in creating art on the iPad.  I will be posting my work on my blog site.

A Drawing A Day

This year, 2015, I am trying to do at least one drawing a day. I have created this challenge for myself. I am drawing on my iPad using the App Paper53 and the Pencil stylus by Paper53.

Line Drawings (9/4/12 and 9/6/12)

Do you ever feel like you have just GOT to draw or paint something...it's like there's an inner urge to be creative in some form...like you're all pumped up and it just takes drawing or some form of creativity to soothe your inner soul.  Well, that's how I've been feeling recently.  For a year, I was sick while undergoing chemo and radiation for breast cancer...but now I've completed my treatment and I'm feeling so much better.  Now I've been trying to get "back in the swing of life" and I've really been feeling that "creative urge.  Here are a couple of drawings that followed the doodles that I started on.

It's been a long year...

It's been a while since I've posted to my blog.  Life sometimes gets hectic.  For the past year, I've been undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  Just recently finished chemo and radiation.  I'm feeling lots better and I'm trying to get back in the "swing of things".  I've been doodling and drawing...playing music again on my dulcimer...and now I'm going to learn to play the ukelele.

Here's a couple of doodles that I've worked on to try to get back into my drawing.  The first one is truly a doodle that started with no preconceived idea...just lines.  I kept working around the center shape concentrating on pattern.  The next one was started with a shape that began to look like a flower shape, so I continued with leaf shapes.  At first, I was not pleased with this one until I began to add some darker lines for contrast.  These doodles are good to keep my fingers busy while I'm watching a TV show...especially one that my husband is watching that I'm not really interested in.

The Butterfly

Went to a wedding in Asheville this past weekend...in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina...on the opposite side of the state where I live. I'm a coastal girl...love the smell of the salty air of the coast...but right now is not a good time to be near the ocean...with Earl headed this way...and who knows where that hurricane may end up going. It's still hot around here which is about 100 miles in from the coast. It's too hot to be outside very long during the day...so sitting under the ceiling fan in the air conditioning is really nice. Makes me wonder how we stood it back in the "old days" when we had NO air conditioning.

The wedding was a very gala affair with lots of excellent food to eat. During the outdoor ceremony which took place outdoors at Lake Eden at Black Mountain, a monarch butterfly flew over the bride and groom. I so wish I had had my camera in my hand at that moment...but instead, a friend was taking photos...and he didn't see the butterfly.

The butterfly symbolizes new life and in some cultures, is considered to bring luck. How appropriate for a young couple getting married and beginning a new life together.
