Dogwood Blossoms

I finally finished my painting of the dogwoods. I painted the background three times before I was satisfied. I would paint a while...then leave it and let it dry before working on it again. By the time I finished, the edges of my flowers were turning brown.

Lovely. How large do you paint your flowers?

Thanks for all the great comments...makes me want to go paint another one! These that I'm painting now are all 5x7...or well, they fit a 5x7 mat. I have done some larger, but I like this size format. I can work quickly and get through...and do more of them.

The picture is beautiful. I've got so much to learn. Your background looks so even, I'm kind of glad to hear you had to paint it three times to get it that way. I always feel like my work gets muddy before it gets "right".

Oh How Nice!! I think the background of any painting is such a nightmare sometimes!!

And I've recently discovered 2 wild dogwoods in our woods!! Whoo-Hoo!!

Nice contrast between the light flower and dark background!
