A weed from my yard...

I had a chance to do some painting this afternoon. I sat out in the yard and painted a weed with a yellow flower...hmmm, wonder what makes a weed a weed...and a flower a flower...

Note:
Thanks to Spinnerta, I learned this is a wildflower called Yellow Avens.

It sure makes a nice sketch--someone will probably know exactly what it is..cool of you to take it in and work on it

Lovely sketch, and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! :) Oh, and the definition of a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place! ;)

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder! Very nice sketch of the flower.

Weed or flower, it doesn't matter if you can paint it and it still as beautiful as it is ^^ Another magnificent piece!

Looke like it might turn into a dandelion... In general, around hear at least, they're considered weeds... because they are so HAPPY to grow in the middle of lawns. Now if you had a big wildflower patch, they'd fit right in!
Weeds are just thing growing where you don't want them!

A flower you want and intended to grow right where you planted it. A weed grows and can be beautiful but it's not of your doing. What some people call weeds are gorgeous in the wild, growing freely.

Not a dandelion- leaves are wrong. Maybe yellow avens?

Spinneretta...you are right! I found another one today that my husband had NOT mowed down and I got a good look at it. It is a Yellow Avens! You're sharp!

I didn't even know they had field guides for...I was going to say weeds, but I guess I should say "wildflowers". I always rely on the internet nowadays. When I found it this afternoon, I told him NOT to mow it down...that I wanted to look at it for a few days.
